There I stood, watching grain trains roll past at Essex, Montana. As the hoppers rolled by, my love of trains and inspiration to draw grew.
Hopper cars representing grain cooperatives from throughout the midwest, painted shades of orange and blue stood out amongst the sea of green Burlington Northern cars. I watched with anticipation as each brightly painted car rolled towards me.
Upon returning home from my summer trip, I began to draw my yearly grain train. The hoppers from Essex inspired a joy of trains that led to constant practice day in and out. This led to a slow and steady development of my craft. The trains of Essex were truly where my drawing all started.
