We board the Gulf Mobile and Ohio Ann Rutledge at Chicago Union Station.  As our train departs, we head out from the ready tracks and into the sunlight.  Up ahead is the cross over bridge of the B and O CT.  The pair of E7 locomotives will take us to St. Louis Union Station.

Union Pacific Big Boys

Big Boy locomotives such as #4014 were designed to keep the long trains of Union Pacific moving over Sherman Hill and the vast expanses of the West.  Whether it was perishables headed to Omaha and interchange to the East Coast or general merchandise headed to Salt Lake City and interchange to California, the Big Boy mastered the mainline of the Union Pacific.
