Happy Birthday, Mom!

Today is my mom's birthday. My mom has been my biggest support system. Without her there would be no posters, prints, postcards of my drawings. She scans my drawings and makes the into the posts I share of the different railroads I have drawn. This allows me more time to draw the trains I love.
In this photo we are at the release of the Norfolk Southern Nickel Plate ‪Heritage Locomotive in Altoona, PA in 2012. You could smell the fresh paint. My mom made the poster that I sent to Wick of my proposed heritage engines and the final poster that some of you have.  Happy Birthday, Mom!

Amtrak's Heritage Fleet

Amtrak selected five of its P40 and P42DC locomotives and an NPCU to honor its 40th Anniversary.  Another P42DC and an ACS64 were also selected to honor America’s Veterans.  These locomotives are the proud work of Amtrak's Beech Grove, Indiana shops.
    The Amtrak Heritage Fleet visits communities served by Amtrak across America.  Amtrak’s Heritage Fleet attends railroad events such as Amtrak Train Days to promote passenger trains and the railroad industry.
    Amtrak’s Heritage Fleet is a proud symbol of the history of Amtrak, America’s Veterans, and Amtrak’s people who work together to make Amtrak strong.  A dedicated team of men and women keep Amtrak’s locomotives and passenger cars maintained and their trains running so our Amtrak experience is second to none.

The Joy of Being a Railroad Artist

I always enjoy meeting with the public at Amtrak Train Days.  Here I share stories with those who attended Amtrak Train Days in Galesburg.  We talk about riding Amtrak and about our love of railroading.
I have always enjoyed that my artwork allows me to begin great conversations with rail enthusiasts of all ages.  We all love seeing Amtrak's proudly painted Veterans and Heritage locomotives.  Some remember taking the Santa Fe Super Chief many years ago.  Railfans love seeing the trains as they pass by headed across America.
With each new drawing I do, I find another story I am able to share.  That is the greatest gift of all for being a railroad artist.
