Railroads of Pittsburgh-A Cornerstone of American Industry

Pittsburgh has long stood as a cornerstone of American industry, at the confluence of the Monongahela and Allegheny into the Ohio River.  Pittsburgh's appetite for iron and ore and its output of steel has made it a key railroad city for generations.  Pittsburgh is long associated with the Pennsylvania Railroad, the Baltimore and Ohio, Chessie System, Conrail, Pittsburgh and Lake Erie, Norfolk Southern, CSX, Canadian National Amtrak, Bessemer and Lake Erie, Union Railroad and many others. Pittsburgh suburb Oakmont is also the headquarters of ASLRRA member Carload Express.

Drawing of the Day-January 21st, 2016-Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Bicentennial GP7

Today I drew Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Bicentennial GP7 1501. It worked in #Pittsburgh #PA #commuter service. I have now drawn GP7 #1501 in its later Pittsburgh & Lake Erie scheme, as a Youngstown & Austintown locomotive and as an Ohio Central locomotive. This engine is remembered by quite a few that worked on it.

Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Train with Today's P&LE Drawings

Here is my Pittsburgh & Lake Erie GP38 with my P&LE 40' box car and the coal hopper and caboose that I drew today.  They make a great Pittsburgh & Lake Erie train.

Drawings of the Day-January 16, 2016 Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Bay Window Caboose and Coal Hopper

Today I finished drawing a Pittsburgh & Lake Erie bay window caboose and coal hopper.  When these combine with my Pittsburgh & Lake Erie GP38 and P&LE "Serves the Steel Centers" box car that I drew years ago to make a train.
