Illinois Central At Memphis Yard on The Mainline of Mid-America


These Illinois Central Locomotives prepare to move freight at Memphis on the Mainline of Mid-America.  Illinois Central's mainline connected Chicago and New Orleans by way of Memphis.
The U33C and SD40A head south with a load of coal from Illinois while the Paducah-built GP10 and GP40 head towards Chicago.  Meanwhile, the SW9 in the yard builds a freight builds a freight bound for Birmingham.

Missouri Pacific Train at St. Louis

A Missouri Pacific freight heads south out of St. Louis.  Today's train carries freight bound for Memphis and New Orleans.
Missouri Pacific was known as the "Route of the Eagles."  Missouri Pacific connected the agriculture, industries and communities of the Southern Midwest states and the Gulf Coast.  Midwest became a part of Union Pacific in 1982.
