My drawing of the day on May 15 was the Amtrak R4c demonstrator #X995.  R4c Demonstrator #X995 led to the development of the venerable AEM-7 locomotive which has served the Northeast Corridor for decades.

Drawing of the Day August 19- Canadian National General Electric ET44ACTier 4 Locomotive

Today's drawing is a new Canadian National General Electric GE Transportation ET44AC.  This Canadian National ET44AC is from Canadian National's first order for GE Transportation Tier 4 Locomotives.
The development of the Tier 4 locomotive is a crowning achievement in locomotive progress.
Canadian National's transcontinental Canadian mainline serves the ports, agriculture, industries and communities of Canada.  Canadian National also is a key railroad in the United States, serving communities, industries and ports throughout the Midwest, the Northeast and along the Gulf Coast.

A Boston and Maine Freight at White River Junction, Vermont

Today, we watch a Boston and Maine freight at White River Junction, Vermont. Carloads of merchandise from across America head towards upper New Hampshire and Vermont.
An empty wood chip car returns to Woodsville, New Hampshire.  Its cargo of New England wood chips will become pulp to create morning papers across the urban centers of the Northeast.

Conrail-A Railroad That Truly Lives in Our Hearts

Conrail is truly a railroad that lives in our hearts.  Conrail served the mining, manufacturing and industries throughout the  Northeast, Midwest and New England.  Conrail is deeply loved by its employees and fans.
I briefly lived in Altoona, Pennsylvania during the Conrail era.  I remember watching Conrail's "Big Blue" as it rolled by, ready to conquer the Horseshoe Curve.
Conrail truly was a story of triumph.  It was a story of people and management working together to weave a handful of struggling railroads into the success story that it became.  Conrail will always live in our hearts.

A Conrail SD40: Hauling Freight on One of America's Cornerstone's of Freight

Conrail was a cornerstone of freight traffic in the Northeast.  Locomotives such as this SD40 hauled merchandise such as manufactured goods from the mills of Pennsylvania to the markets of the Northeast, Midwest and to the gateways of the Southeast and South Central United States.
Conrail hauled agriculture products from across America to from hubs such as Chicago and Decatur to necessary markets in the Northeast.
Coal from the mines of Pennsylvania traveled across the Conrail system to the mills of America and to the ports of the Eastern Seaboard for export.  Much of Conrail is now part of today's Norfolk Southern, with a smaller portion being a part of CSX Transportation.
