Baltimore & Ohio-Linking 13 Great States with the Nation

Baltimore & Ohio connected the Eastern Seaboard with Appalachia, the Ohio River, the Great Lakes and the Midwest.  Baltimore & Ohio's slogan was "Linking 13 Great States with the Nation."

A Chessie System Train at Cumberland, Maryland

A Chessie System train heads east through Cumberland, Maryland on the former Baltimore and Ohio.  Its carloads of general merchandise and coal are bound for Baltimore.
Chessie System remains a favorite amongst railroad enthusiasts for its colorful yellow, orange and blue paint scheme that incorporated Chesapeake and Ohio's iconic cat "Chessie."  Chessie System merged with Seaboard Coast Line to form CSX.
